Arrival & Airport Expectations

The International Centre is open, and our hours of operation for Humber North, Humber Lakeshore and the Humber International Graduate School are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Our phone lines are also operational. North and Lakeshore: Walk-ins to see our International Student Advisors are available 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Arrival Rules

Be sure you are wearing a mask as you leave the airplane. After you exit the airplane, follow the airport signs to go to customs and immigration counter. Should you need help with directions or have other questions, ask one of the airport or airline staff members.

In the Airport

And be screened by a border services officer or quarantine officer to assess symptoms, also you will be informed if you are exempt from quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers. Before you present yourself to the immigration officer, make sure you have the following documents handy:

  • Letter of introduction
  • Valid Passport
  • Valid Temporary Resident VISA or eTA
  • Letter of acceptance from your institution
  • Proof of funds for the duration of your stay in Canada
  • Proof you have paid your deposit to Humber. You will find your receipt by checking MyHumber under Student Account.
  • Any other documents you used when you applied for your Study Permit (find list here, which includes an immigration medical examination for those travelling from outside the United States)
  • Plane ticket

When you do reach the border services line:

  • Wait for your turn in the line/queue to be called by the immigration officer
  • Present yourself with the immigration documents
  • Upon verification & immigration questions, the officer may issue you a valid study permit and stamp your passport
  • The immigration officer may also issue you a SIN card document [The Social Insurance Number (SIN) is a 9 digit number that you need to work in Canada or to have access to government programs and benefits] click here for more info
  • The immigration officer will redirect you to proceed further towards baggage claim

Connect to Wi-Fi at Pearson

While at Pearson Airport, you can use free Wi-Fi courtesy of American Express.

Log in to free Wi-Fi at the airport:

Step One
Select “Toronto Pearson Wi-Fi” from the list of available networks.

Step Two
The American Express landing page will open. If you do not see this page, go to portal.boingohotspot.net.

Step Three
Accept the terms and conditions.

Step Four
Select “Connect to Wi-Fi.”

Travel From The Airport

Upon clearing the immigration, proceed to the baggage claim area. Once you have picked up your luggage, proceed to the next CBSA checkpoint, where you'll show the officer your Declaration Card and your receipt if you paid duty and taxes (if applicable).

You can take public transportation (TTC, GO Transit) or private transportation (taxi, Uber) when leaving the airport.
