Roundtable Discussion with Minister Fraser

Humber Post Graduate Students and staff had a unique opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion with the Honorable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship at Humber's Lakeshore Campus in March. Students, alumni and faculty shared with the minister some of the challenges currently facing international graduate learners as they transition to life and careers in Canada. Highlighting the extensive experience and skills that they brought with them to Canada and how their graduate studies further prepared them to excel in their fields provided an opportunity to emphasize to the minister the talent they are bringing to meet labour market demands.

Following the discussion the Minister announced an extension to the Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) provisioning international graduates with a recently expired or expiring PGWP the opportunity to extend their work permit providing an opportunity to stay longer in Canada gaining up to an additional 18 months work experience.
