Video and Photo Contest

Winners can win up to $250 (video contest) and $200 (photo contest) in gift cards.

International Education Week is a worldwide celebration of international education and exchange. This year, Humber College is celebrating International Education Week virtually from November 16–28, 2021.

Immerse yourself in IEW by participating in our Video and Photo Contest. The purpose of the contest is for you to capture the spirit of your culture through your camera lens. The video/photo you submit will be shared on the Humber Global website and may be showcased during the Video & Photo Showcase and Award Ceremony.

The contest is open to participation by students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Humber College. Current students are eligible for a prize. Other participants are eligible for their video/photo to be showcased during our Video & Photo Showcase and Award Ceremony on November 26, 2021.

Your video should illustrate one of the following topics:

Cultural Performance Art (video only):

A video performance of an instrumental item or a dance that reflects one’s culture. Your video should also include a very brief verbal explanation of the cultural importance of the performance. In your description, please mention the country, culture/sub-culture, the type of instrument/name of the dance and its origin.

Deadline to submit the video is 11:59 pm (EST) on November 7, 2021.

A Snapshot of Culture (video or photo):

This category is general in nature and can include: An illustration of life in your country, city, or home through video. A general video that displays a festival, cuisine, event, or activity that represents your culture. In your description, please mention the country, culture/sub-culture, the type of instrument/name of the dance and its origin.

Deadline to submit the video is 11:59 pm (EST) on November 7, 2021.

Visual Arts (photo only):

This category is a cultural reflection through visual arts created by you. Examples of visual art includes painting, drawing, handicrafts, sculptures, pottery, 3D Animation, etc. Feel free to exceed the limitations of the topics mentioned above. Please explain the cultural significance, country/sub-culture, origin of your art piece in your description.
