Working in Canada

If your study permit makes no reference to working off-campus you might be eligible to have it amended. To see if you meet the eligibility requirements to work go here. However if your permit states that you are NOT permitted to work off campus you will have to apply for a new study permit.

It is important to note that if you’re an EAP student you will not be eligible to work off-campus, therefor not able to change the conditions until you start a regular full-time program.
To be paid you will require a Social Insurance Number (SIN number). For more information about social insurance numbers go to the following website. You can apply for a Social Insurance Number at a Service Canada office. To find a Service Canada Office near your house search by your postal code.
Working in Canada Is an excellent way of gaining Canadian work experience, honing your skills and earning money for extras. Enjoy working in Canada, but do it legally!
