Name: Blenda Runebjörk
Program: Bachelor of Commerce in e-Business Marketing (Now called Bachelor of Commerce - Digital Business Management)
After reviewing which postsecondary schools I wanted to attend in Toronto, I learned that Humber College would provide the best hands-on experience and have real interactions with my professors and students because of the small class sizes. Thanks to the warm welcome I received at the International Centre since day one, I never felt alone, and this helped me transition into Canada. Their events were where I met other students who are now some of my closest friends.
Having my degree in Commerce, specialized in e-Business Marketing, has allowed me to get a big picture perspective of how organizations work and how each department and their specializations come together to produce a product or service while being able to utilize marketing specific skills. As a communications and marketing intern for an insurance broker between third and fourth year, I was able to apply my knowledge and skills in the Canadian marketing industry. My Canadian work experience boosted my resume and made it much easier for me to enter the workforce after graduation. I am now working as the Coordinator for Global Marketing for KPMG International.
Being raised in Sweden and working in Canada has allowed me to experience life and people from various cultures and has helped me interpret my culture with new eyes. Value your time at Humber and make an effort to learn from your professors and ask questions. This will make it much easier for you to get support that is customized to how you learn.
