Apply Carefully

Step 4 - Sending in Your Application

Important Date: Applications for high demand programs (with Fall admission) must be received by February 1st in order to be considered for admission. Many programs will continue to accept applications after this date (when space is available).

Humber recommends that offshore students submit complete applications by the following dates:

  • September/Fall Intake: July 1st*
  • January/Winter Intake: November 15th*
  • May/Summer Intake: April 1st*

* note: applications received by these guideline dates do not guarantee seat availability as many of our programs are highly competitive.

It is the student's responsibility to ensure that they apply in sufficient time to receive a student visa. Please refer to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website for approximate times.  Please note: we are no longer accepting applications for the September 2011 semester if as student is either applying from their home country or has not already begun the study visa application process.

Mail: Download the Application Form and mail it, along with your $75 CAD application fee and other required documents, to:
Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning
International Centre, Room D224
205 Humber College Boulevard
Toronto, Ontario CANADA M9W 5L7

You may also mail your $75 CAD application fee in the form of a bank draft or money order to the above number, but important accompanying documents must follow by mail/courier.

Please be advised that Humber does NOT return original documents. You may wish to send attested copies. (An attested copy is a copy qualified as such by law, i.e., a legal duplicate of an original document).

What Happens Next

  1. If you meet all the requirements for your program (and space is still available), an acceptance letter will be mailed/couriered to you*. If additional information is required, such as a portfolio, an audition or a questionnaire, it may take more time to assess and process your application.
  2. If your proficiency in English does not meet the standards for your program, Humber may issue you a Conditional Acceptance. This allows you to begin your studies in English at Humber in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program, and then continue on to your desired program upon successful completion of Level 8. (To qualify, your scores must meet the following requirements: Undergraduate Certificate or Diploma - 60%; Bachelor's Degree - 75%; Postgraduate Certificate - 80%).
  3. As soon as you have your Acceptance Letter*, you should contact the nearest Canadian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate to request the application for your Study Permit and Temporary Resident Visa (if necessary). For more information visit www.cic.gc.ca.
  4. Your acceptance package will include a Confirmation Letter indicating a date by which you must confirm your spot in the program. If you do not confirm your place in the program before the deadline date, your place may be given to another applicant.
  5. The Acceptance Letter will also indicate a deadline date for payment of fees. If you fail to pay your fees by that date, you may lose your spot in the program and a late fee payment will be added.

Important Note:

* Humber’s admissions process is competitive; an offer of acceptance is not guaranteed.
