Bachelor's Degree, Political Science, University of Ottawa - 2012

What Motivated you to apply for IYIP?

I was motivated to apply to the IYIP program because I believe that international experience matters. By interning abroad, I hope to immerse myself in a different culture, to learn about different perspectives, and to approach problems in different ways.

What are your personal and professional goals?

For this program, I hope to develop a broader understanding of the world, current events and topics related to development in Latin America. I also hope to build upon my studies and learn about issues of empowerment, sustainability, equality, marginalization and social movements within the context of Bolivia.

Hola a todos! My name is Maria Hortensia Gutierrez, but in La Paz I am referred to as Hortensia because apparently it is much easier (too many Marias)

What motivated you to apply for IYIP?

I was motivated to enroll in the Global Citizenship Certificate program and the IYIP program because over the past few years working as a flight attendant I have had the opportunity to see many countries and experience many cross cultural interactions. I thought this would be something I would enjoy very much.

What are your personal and professional goals?

I am very excited to embark on this new adventure and to contribute to the Save the Children International team. I hope to gain more experience with working in an NGO and in the International Development community.
