WHAT IS CONNECT?

Connect is a peer mentorship program to ease the transition of first semester international students. Connect provides a support team for new international students by creating an opportunity for students to connect with an International Peer Mentor (Returning Student) and a Staff Mentor (Faculty/Staff/Admin person). Welcome Teams are familiar with the Humber campus, services and local community and will help new students become more familiar with a new culture and a new academic setting by providing cultural support and information about student life at Humber.

The program allows peer mentors to develop their leadership skills, communication skills, inter-personal skills along with opportunities to assist in the planning of Connect events, marketing and communication of the program, workshop facilitation and many other skills. International Peer Mentors are unpaid volunteer positions for the entire semester; however the benefits are rewarding. International Peer Mentors who meet the minimum program expectations will receive a reference letter at the end of the semester and are also eligible to attend International Centre events that are $25.00 and under (to be eligible for these perks International Peer Mentors must be active members of the program and meet the minimum program expectations.
