Ideal Location Brings New Possibilities

Located in the downtown area of Toronto — Canada’s largest and most diverse city — the IGS offers state-of-the-art technology, flexible and collaborative classrooms, a globally connected learning space, open spaces for students to network and work on project-based learning initiatives that create a differentiated learning experience for Humber’s international learners.

Because of its location, the IGS also allows international students to be connected to employment opportunities in Canada’s financial services hub and one of North America’s most dynamic tech sectors.Through lunch and learns, networking events and a mentorship program, students enrolled at the IGS will be able to connect to alumni, business, and industry as well as build an extensive network with relevant organizations to prepare them for work in their chosen field.

IGS students will also be enrolled in the Community and Industry Engagement course where they will take part in career-related skills development, collaborative projects and continuous opportunities to engage with industry representatives from the Greater Toronto area.

“The team that created the IGS Community and Industry Engagement common course was excited to consult with experts from areas around Humber such as Student Life, Career Services, Teaching and Learning, and Work-Integrated Learning,” said Lara McInnis, Special Advisor, Humber Learning Outcomes. “In each consultation session, it became clear that aligning the course with Humber's values and the IGS vision would strengthen students' relationships with each other and to their local and global communities.“Collaboration, and community-building are essential to help people thrive in today's inclusive, diverse workforce. So, creating opportunities for students to innovate in cross-functional teams, and helping them challenge and support each other to build career-ready citizenship skills were key priorities for the course developers.”

The IGS further showcases Humber’s commitment to its Internationalization Strategy by being the polytechnic institution of choice for students around the world to learn from, and contribute to the community. Additionally, the IGS represents a framework that provides further opportunities for students to earn graduate credentials.
